Back in January, the daytime TV host revealed to her Instagram followers that she planned on releasing new music sometime in 2023. Now, Kelly is giving more concrete details after she posted a picture with several emojis: a wine glass, a broken heart and a sun. But the real piece of news came the next day when she announced that the name of her next album and its meaning.

“All right, y’all. So, it’s officially time to tell you,” she said in a video uploaded on March 26. “I’ve been working on this project for, well, closed for three years now, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to release it.But I am, and the album is called Chemistry.”

Although Kelly’s venture back to music comes with a lot of elation, it is also enveloped with heavy emotion over her divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. As she described in her video announcement, she had an intentional reason for calling the upcoming record Chemistry.

“I was trying to find a word, it might be one of the songs on the album, but I was trying to find a word that really described the whole thing,” she said in the Instagram clip. “I didn’t want everybody to think I was just coming out with some ‘I’m angry,’ ‘I’m sad’ — just one or two emotions. This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship.”

But that wasn’t all the American Idols alum had to say about her latest project. To culminate a weekend full of revelations, she also announced a summer music residency from July 28 through August 19 at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

As she wrote on Instagram, the 10-show engagement will feature Kelly performing her most popular hits along with some new songs from her upcoming album. What’s more, tickets for the experience open up to the general public starting on March 31 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET.

Congrats, Kelly! We’ll be sure to mark this on our music calendars.
